Shifting Places......

I spent the entire evening shifting places, as I now report to a new team, so it make sense to sit with my new team and have a 'feel' of the new environment (not that i never had that experience before...)

I'm about 99% done, and funny though, I feel very sad leaving my current workstation......

This is not the first time i've shifted workstations. In fact, it's the forth time in five years. First two times was due to relocation of the entire team to fit the expansion of the regional centre. The third time in 2005 was due to organisational structure changes, which I ended up with a team of completely new people to work with (I've already known most of them, but we've never worked as a team before).

I truly enjoyed my one year ++ with my new team in 2005. Although the livewire of the team left in Jan 2006 to prepare for her emigration to Australia, soon enough we've gotten a newhire, who turns out to be the new livewire of our team. A real entertainer we've got there!!

I know one reason i am reluctant to shift was that i'm having too much fun over at my old team. Even though we are constantly stressed, we'll just talk nonsense to release tension, what more with our new jester around. Another reason, I believe, is that this shift is different from the rest.

In my past five years with the company, I've seen collegues moving out, and leaving behind vacant spaces, which is then replaced by new people. We've 'relocated' as a team before. But this is the first time I'm moving out of my current team. The team I had been with is still around, and I'm leaving them for new pastures (or challenges). So it's like i'm saying farewell to them.

I guess the feeling for those who left the company is similar to mine, perhaps only worse, coz after the years of working, the friends you have made, the challenges you faced, the progress you made, will all just be a memory (probably a distant one) once you leave the company.

I'm just taking a small step to a different team, and I already feel this way. It's really about the people who matters, and I hope I will build a new relationship which is enjoyable with my new team......

Tell me about the sad feeling of leaving old companies for greener pastures. I am quite a "shallow eyes" person. Never failed to shed tears on the last day of my 2 previous jobs. I was crying quite badly in the previous job on the last day at work to the extend that another colleague also cried along with me when I was bidding farewell to her. GIRlSS!! I guess the reason was that I am going to miss the ppl more that the job itself. It's the ppl that makes the difference.
