Continuing our bargain search for baby products, we visited the Mom and Baby Expo 2011 held in Midvalley Convention Centre last weekend.
We missed the one in March, but it seems these type of expos are really popular, with a few of such expos being held each year. There will be another one in July 2011.

As expected, the place was packed with expectant mums, parents and kids, not to mention strollers as well :) There were many products and services available, to the extend we were kind of overwhelmed by things we do for baby and toddlers now - from special nursing pillows to cloth diapers to stem cell banks to talking educational pens! I was also surprised there were so many shops selling baby stuff, as I only surf and visited a few which I know of around my neighbourhood.
We were there for a few hours, and ended up purchasing what we went there for in the first place - An Aprica baby stroller. We also saw a couple of car seats, and decided to come back for one particular model - The First Years True Fit convertible car seat - during the July expo as it was we felt it was too early to purchase it now.
I felt this was the right place to get a good bargain on big items such as strollers, playpens, car seats and cots. Moreover, an advantage would be that the sales person would be attentive and able to answer one's queries as they are in a competitive situation (if one cannot explain, the customer may switch to another brand). We had some inquiries on this model displayed in Parkson but the sales representative is totally clueless! Here, the lady was able to demonstrate and explain to us the features and some tips as well. Our stroller costs RM1999 in the retail market, but we got it for RM1393, the lowest price I've seen so far. I think that's a good deal.
We also checked out the full moon packages from a couple of booths, as well as Philips Avent baby bottle prices. I thought the offer wasn't much difference than purchasing during Jusco sale. We also didn't purchase diapers yet coz it was simply too early! I read a lot on cloth diapering but I personally felt I wasn't ready for that yet until I experience diaper changing first-hand before deciding should I go towards the so-called eco-friendly path.
Looks like we'll be coming back here again - there will be another Parenthood Expo from July 29 - 31. It's a chance coz quite close to my due date but even if I can't make it, hubby still can go and grab those car seats :)
