Caffeine Junkie

It's actually not that serious, but bad enough.

Trying to wean off coffee lately, but it's really tough!

I started drinking coffee back in 2004, when I was struggling with my job and had to work till wee hours of the morning. Coffee was the only thing that kept me awake throughout the day.

Eventually it was just a matter of time before I became a 'coffee-addict'.

It was so bad to one extend that I had to have two cups in the morning before I can 'turn on my engine' to work.

Then one day, I took three cups in the morning and was feeling all jittery. My heart was beating so fast, and I thought I was going to pass out. I knew I had to stop.

Now my daily routine is one cup of Kafera 3-in-1 White Coffee in the morning. This coffee was introduced by my aunt, which is only available in Singapore, but manufactured in (surprise!) Ipoh. So does this mean I'm drinking imported coffee? If really need to, I'll take at most two cups of coffee a day. Luckily that happens only during quarter end.

While I am able to control my coffee intake, I still don't think it is a good idea to be so dependant on coffee to stay alert. Perhaps it is all in the mind. Or habit.

Sometimes I don't drink coffee in the morning, but come lunch time, if we have lunch at some kopitiam that serves nice coffee, I will say to myself "I haven't drank my coffee this morning, so it is ok for me to order one now", which just defeats the purpose in the first place!

It doesn't help if I recently discovered that Starbucks at 1 Utama (Old Wing - between Delifrance and Haagen Daaz) serves the best ever hot Caffè Mocha. Luckily, Starbucks is an indulgence, so I won't be spending so much money on it.

Dreaming of coffee......

OK, I better stop now and go to bed, anticipating my next cup of morning coffee. Or not.

We'll see how it goes tomorrow.
