2008 Ang Pow Awards

Received quite a number of 'interesting' Ang Pows this year. Since it will also be my LAST year receiving Ang Pows (as hinted by my relatives), I've decided to post the Best and Worst Ang Pows of 2008 (Year of the Rat)

Who needs the rat when you can have cheese? This was a specially designed Ang Pow from Singapore. Ingenious idea :)

Most classy Ang Pow

I usually look forward to receiving Citibank Ang Pows as they are usually very classy. This year is no exception. Even though they traded red for gold, the muted effect still looks good. Somehow the picture here doesn't do the actual packet justice :(

Eye-candy Ang Pow

OCBC bank's series of four Ang Pows were just so colourful and pretty! In addition, if you have the four in a series, you can even make up a picture, as shown below. One of the all time nicest Ang Pow designs I've seen and collected.

Worst Ang Pow of the Year

Maybank wins thumbs down (literally) with its totally ugly yellow multi-purpose Ang Pow. YUCKS! When I say multi-purpose, I meant the inner layer of the packet. It can be used for other festive season such as Hari Raya and Deepavali. I'm not sure if this was part of the cost-savings initiatives that they have to take but it certainly is not one of the best ideas to date.

Looks like I'll be hunting for Ang Pow packets for a different reason next year......
