American Idol Final - David vs David

When I first saw the American Idol - Mariah Carey week episode, I pretty figured out who will be in the finals. I didn't really follow up much from there. In the end, the final two is as expected - David Cook vs David Archuleta. Which means I will be catching the AI Final.

Round 1
David Cook sings 'I haven't found what I'm looking for' by U2

It was a great performance, although it sounded a little bit country, and i think he went out of tune for a short second. He's no Bono but I have to say he looks really really cool, even though he looked nervous.

David Archuleta sings 'Don't let the sun go down on me' by Elton John

Despite he's so tense on stage, he still pulls it through an excellent performance. The judges think it's his 'best ever performance in the show'

Round 2
David Cook sings 'Dream Big'

I just think it's another pop rock song. Odd choice, especially it's a new song selection, but I credit him for attempting something different from ballads.

David Archuleta sings 'In This Moment'

Hey, looks like he's sticking to his niche, which is singing ballads. Despite Andrew Lloyd Webber telling him not to close his eyes too much, he did exactly that, which at time looks like he's in much pain.

Round 3
David Cook sings 'The World I Know' by Collective Soul

Feels like I'm in a gig. It was a good performance although it feels a bit slow. And he shed a tear after the song! Simon actually thought he chose the wrong song, but he took the comments very graciously. I think he lost his confidence there.

David Archuleta sings 'Imagine'

Oh wow. David A is using his trump card. The emotions! The melody! The control! Everyone is eating out from his hand!

My verdict
As much as I prefer David Cook, I'm really not sure how this will turn out as both Davids did very well. Perhaps I'm also not used to seeing two guys performing during a final, as both rounds of AI final I watched previously has Divas performing (Fantasia, Jordin Sparks) which makes it more interesting. Here's wishing good luck to both Davids, although I think I will need to be prepared in case Cook doesn't make it :(

Also, was it just me or Ryan Seacrest's face just looks swollen? Did he did some plastic surgery or just put on weight?
