Our Wedding - Details That Matter

What makes a wedding different from the rest?

Simple. It's the details that matter.

I'm very sure every bride wants to have a wedding with something special to hold on to, unless the bride could not be bothered with such details. Most of the weddings I attended, each has something different from the rest, be it the decorations, venue, dress, favours, food, the list goes on...

Well, I think our wedding card , double happiness symbol and flowers are considered unique, but in the process of reflecting our wedding, these few things matter to me a lot as well.

1) Wrist corsages for the 'Ji Muis'

When considering wrist corsages for my entourage of 'sisters' (or called 'Ji Muis'), I didnt wanted to buy real flowers as firstly they don't last, and it can be quite pricey. I wanted something for them to keep so I looked up the internet for ideas.

It was good timing that I found this rosette tutorial by Bored & Crafty. I love how simple the tutorial was, and how good it turned out to be.

Unfortunately I didn't quite have the time to do it.

I was determined anyway, and started calling my cousin Janet where to buy some of the materials. I can always get some scrap cloth from my gownmaker Elaine :)

To my surprise, Janet decided that she can handle this project. In the end, she crafted 8 lovely wrist corsages similar to the pattern I provided her with.

My 'Ji Muis' were really excited to have and keep their own wrist corsages as souvenir. Some even tied to their handbags as decoration!

Thanks Janet for helping out in making these, you have one as well :)

2) Wedding favours

When we decided to buy wedding favours for everyone, we realised it would have cause serious damage to our budget. Furthermore, I don't think the Malaysian culture will appreciate a wedding favour, they prefer something edible any time :p

We scrapped the idea, but so happened I was surfing Beaucorp, I found they were having a promotion on their trademark mint tins. Just our luck that our friend Jason will be flying back from US to attend our wedding. I asked Jason for his permission to bring back 30 boxes of the favours. He said ok and next thing, our order was completed!

With only 30 boxes favours, of course we only give to those that matters - our Ji Muis, Heng Tais, flower girls, those who helped out in our wedding preparation, including Elaine and our photographer Patrick.

I didn't manage to get any feedback on those favours but I know I kept a few boxes for my own. I made sure it's kept to the 'Ivory, Pink & Green' theme. Love them to bits!

Thanks Jason for bringing it back for us, we owe you one :)

3) Wedding Ring Pillow

Not many would have seen this because we used it only during our church wedding. Again, I thought of making one for my own since it looked quite easy to make, and I didn't quite like what's out there in the market (teddy bears and lace?)

I asked Elaine to teach me how to make my own ring pillow, but instead she was so kind to make one for me. She even used back the same material from my dinner gown. So sweet of her!

I love how she translate the design I got it from the internet into a beautiful piece for my own. The crystals added the sparkling touch, and the colour is just perfect. My youngest cousin had the honour to be the ring bearer, and he did a pretty good job of carrying the pillow as he walked into the church. This is now carefully kept in our "Wedding Box".

Many thanks to Elaine for making this, it meant a lot to me :)

Well, this pretty much concludes my wedding posts. It took me one year just to finish it. Phew! Time to get back to my usual blogging :)
