MIFW - Celestial Collection

Thanks to Elaine, we had the pleasure of attending Pretty in White's launching of "The Celestial Collection" in conjunction with Malaysia International Fashion Week (MIFW). This was held at the Pavilion KL on Saturday evening.

We were supposed to arrive before five, but due to some unforeseen events, we arrived just in time for the show to begin. Talk about being fashionably late!

Stephanie Chai was the emcee of the event, and we were presented by tall and leggy models parading the new collection of bridal and evening wear by Celest Thoi and her team.

Sans one sour-faced looking model (hello, it's bridal wear!), it was a very refreshing preview of what PIW has to offer. It certainly did not fit into any of the conventional bridal gowns, but to think about it these gowns are unique and beautiful in their own way. I love how they incorporate fascinators into the collection, something uncommon in Malaysia at the moment. My favourite piece has to be the wedding gown which the train can be removed to reveal a shorter and lighter skirt, perfect for the first dance with the groom.

Another highlight has to be celebrity sighting. Sitting across the other side of the runway was Deanna Yusoff, she looks so pretty in person! Datuk Bridget Lai was also there. Also, Deborah Henry modeled the last gown, and she spent an extra long time on the runway, presumely that's the star gown of the collection.

We stayed back a while after the show, and saw Deanna again, this time being interviewed by the press. There were a few more celebrities being interviewed but we couldn't really put a name to those faces.

Overall, I thought it was an interesting experience. We always see pictures of people sitting on a runway, and here we were, in a cocktail dress and coat with tie, watching the models sashaying across the runway. If we were a little early, perhaps we could enjoy some drinks too :)

I would like to thank PIW for giving this opportunity to us, and all the best in their Celestial Collection!

Ohh wedding dresses! They make me happy. Not because I want to get married or anything. Haha
