Has anyone visited 1 Utama lately? This Chinese New Year, the shopping mall drew inspiration from the phrase 招財進寶 to come up with the theme "Celebrating Paws-perity", featuring none other than the Maneki Neko, otherwise known as Fortune Cat.
When the gigantic cats were first put up, I overheard some shoppers "complaining" about why a cat and not tiger was being decorated. One auntie even said they should not use white on the cat as it is not known to be a lucky colour during CNY.

Well, I thought the cats were super cute, not to mention very different from the other malls' theme this year. They really paid attention to the cats' features, clothing and accessories. If you pay close attention, you will see the cats wear jade necklaces, and the big cat even had a ring on its right paw!
Though I haven't had much chance to get into the Chinese New Year mood this year (due to the audit), I am really happy to see these cats each time I am in 1 Utama. They are pretty popular subjects for avid photographers as well :)
