The End of the World

I was on the road, listening to the radio, when I caught the lyrics to the chorus of Jay Sean's 2012 :

"We gonna party like, party like it's the end of the world... "

Well, no one knows for sure if the end of the world is indeed 2012, but I wonder what will be human behaviour if they only know they have one more week before the end of the world?

• Will there be more one night stands, knowing that there will definitely be no consequence at all within a week's time?
• Will more people start searching their spiritual journey, or embrace one, or even renew theirs if they have not been practicing all these while?
• Would there be more repentant souls, or more of those who do not care anymore?
• Would the medical and insurance industry go burst, since everyone's going to die within a week?
• Would banks go burst, as everyone would withdraw their savings and want to start spending like it's no tomorrow?
• Would luxury car sales go up?
• Would people fall for scams relating to an underground place which will protect them from death?
• Would political figures, Datuks and Tan Sris, millionaires and celebrities feel helpless now that they realised money could not even spare their lives?
• Would there be an increase in suicides, as some could not take it that the world would come to an end?
• Would there be more looting, and unrest?
• Would workaholics then stop working and get a life?
  
• Would more people be travelling, either to get back to their loved ones, or to visit places they always wanted to go?
• Would there be an "End of the World" party for die-hard clubbers?
• There will certainly be believers and the skeptics. Who will prevail?

The thoughts just scared me, and I don't even know why I thought about this in the first place. But most importantly, it was a reminder I must be always be prepared for the 2nd coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare. {2 Peter 3:10}
